That, or they got their hands on someone who would know these things about us, and interrogated them. That seems more the hellish method, wouldn't you say?
Mine? Well, for punishment it's surprisingly lax, and there's nothing like this in the myths I'm familiar with. I know where demons come from, and it's not some place called hell-- someone else here is sure he knows every planet in his universe and that mine isn't one of them, so we're probably somewhere else entirely.

I don't really know what to make of the punishment part yet, to be honest with you. Feels underwhelming no matter how you look at it. Maybe it's more the type of 'death by a thousand cuts' philosophy and just takes time.
The drinking contest with their boss? Yes, a couple of them told me. I don't see the point in bringing us here to punish us and then offering a way out, but it also doesn't sound like it's that simple.
As one of them put it, we need to be sensate enough to still be torturable, and apparently that includes still being able to do things like drink and eat. For all we know they're just double killing us with alcohol poisoning, or it's just the kind of long torture where we're promised something unattainable and end up miserable over it.
Still worth seeing where things go, in my opinion. What else are we going to do when we're dead?
