[i am like..... would zelgadis know what weed smells like. i have to think about this.]
Because the killer's about to have an example made out of him?

They were vague about the consequences, but I doubt it'll be anything pretty.
But considering how close we were to not catching the guy... I suspect the takeaway for some people is going to be "if you're going to murder, be smarter about it."

[a sigh.]
... Hope they can at least wait long enough for us to recover from today's farce before pulling any stunts.

[Zel didn't bother getting a drink after discarding his coffee cup, so he's here empty-handed.]
What in the world did we just see...? Have you ever seen shadow magic that can do that?

Illusion magic, you mean...?
[He glances at the hair-tendrils, then looks away. His one visible eye narrows as he gazes outward at the sea of lava.]
I know of spells that animate one's shadow -- can even give it a solid form... but this was more than that. Those two had no control over what was happening to them.

We're all here to suffer. The sin of murdering one teenager may be just one drop in the bucket, compared to whatever it is we've all done to earn damnation in the first place.
... Perhaps.
I haven't exactly been asking people what they might be in here for, but some of them are awfully... soft-hearted, for a place like this.
That said, there was never any guarantee that those who judge us, gods or otherwise, would do so fairly.

Doesn't really matter how you or I feel about it. It won't change anything.
[You know what's a really huge mistake? Walking into a House of Mirrors when you've already got massive self-image problems! Zelgadis stands frozen in place in front of one of the mirrors for what seems like a very long time... then suddenly spins on his heel and turns to leave, walking right into Rynlan. (Sorry -- this is a lot like having a brick wall walk right into you.)
All around them, there are only more mirrors. Which way did they come in through, again?]

Sorry--
[He mutters a quick apology, but there is immediate fear in his one visible eye at those words.]
What? It has to be nearby.

[He hurries past Rynlan, turns a corner and... nope, it's another mirror. He shuts his eyes.]
That can't be... It was right over here.
[He turns around -- another mirror behind him.]
... I need to get out of here.

[Another corner turned, another mirror in his way. Zelgadis brings a hand over his face, stepping back.]
Everywhere I go...
Must this accursed face follow my every step!?
