I imagine Mr. Barnes could have managed to do the same to several of our number, but the more capable his victim was of fighting back, the more of a risk it would have been to him. It was a logical choice.

...it was. And if he's used to war, then it's easier to think that way. But this all makes sense for killing someone just because you want to kill, not for eliminating competition-- honestly, his chances were going to be low.
