Uh. Flower shop, at the end but I think my head was screwed on straight at that point. It didn't pull me under too much. And... some kind of Christmas thing?
...mm. Two for me too, at the end. The... one I thought I was in before, and then one where I thought Kuranosuke was going to fire me if I didn't get a boyfriend in a week.
[he only experienced two because he's worse at getting mentally unfucked so this tracks for him, he's not questioning date...]
He was my boss at a fashion magazine of some kind, we had an upcoming gala and he accused me of partying too much because I was single. Said he'd fire me if I didn't have a serious boyfriend by the gala.
... All of it got likened to a somnium for me and then after that it wasn't quite as bad. I've had to smacked into my head so many times that a somnium's just a dream and not reality.
[ oh. he makes a little pfffffff noise under his breath. explaining things. ]
Uhhh-- it's like a subconscious dream state. You can go through it to get clues from people, say... a suspect in a murder investigation who isn't talking.
A somnium can point you in the right direction, because you can't fully hide away all your memories from your subconsciousness. But it's not real, and it's not perfect.
Yeah, but there are risks to it. You have limited time in one before both the psyncer and subject are in danger. So, you need to be quick but also not miss anything. It could end up being as chaotic as a trial.
[ BUT STILL… helpful ]
Your subconscious can’t fill in things it doesn’t know with accurate information. So… say you saw a murder but not clearly enough to see who the killer was, and that was relayed in your somnium. I could see how the murder took place, because you saw that happen. But the killer would be blank and nondescript, because subconscious doesn’t know who they are or what they look like. It’s not decisive evidence, but it gives us a lead.
On the other hand, if I have a suspect and I go into their somnium and see detailed information on how the murder took place and who the victim was, then there’s a solid chance they did it. I might even see them carrying out the killing.
It’s not evidence in court, but it gives the investigation team a suspect and a strong lead to find that evidence with.
Yeah, it can go either way. There’s a thing where a mind can influence a psyncer into believing what they believe. Like a sort of shared mania?
But those weren’t exactly like a somnium. Even if it was using people and things I knew to make it seem more real — like putting things in a police station, or showing me my best friend.

[their murder trials... god.]
So you're-- going through their dreams to see what they're hiding from you, but because they're dreams, you can't just take it all as fact?

You might've had an advantage in getting out, if you were used to those.
